10 Strategies on How to Stop Hating College
11:52 14.11.2018 |
College is a unique experience, and when the journey starts, it can be a lot different than what you were used to. Although you dream of having the best college experience like you see in movies, you start hating it, and it becomes a nightmare.
However, college is not as bad as it may seem, and with little effort, it can become the best part of your life. Here is how to stop hating it:
1. Make Friends
When you don’t have friends at college or at the new place in general, you will feel alone, and it could become a real struggle to go through the college years. Make friends with colleagues from college or go out at locals. You will surely meet some people that will share experiences with you.
2. Invite Your Friends Over
Another way to have fun is by inviting your old friends over. Not only you will get a sense of familiarity and will feel better after seeing them, but you can also show them around. Hanging out with your best friends is always fun.
3. Accept Invites
Unless you are invited to some suspicious party, you should accept invites from college people. You may end up having fun, and it’s better than locking yourself between four walls.
Many students are afraid of what their parents will say if they find out they are not liking college. However, it is your life and your future, and you should decide on it. Tell them in a nice manner, and they should understand.
5. Consider Changing Major
It’s not unusual for students to feel like they made a mistake, or like they don’t like what they chose. If that’s the case for you, you should consider changing to something you like and would like in the future. It’s going to be more pleasant.
6. Check the Nearby Colleges
You could check other nearby colleges and their campuses to see if you feel a stronger connection to that place. It could help you choose another place and feel much better.
7. Take Classes that Interest You
You aren’t going to love each and every class, which is why it’s important to take some courses that will help you and will make everything worth it. Your mental health and happiness are precious, after all, so you need something that boosts your interest.
8. Get Enough Sleep
One of the main reasons you may hate college is because of having to wake up too early and having a bunch of courses. Make sure you go to sleep earlier, so you rest enough for the upcoming day. It will all feel much better.
Now, this advice may seem difficult to follow as being a student means being busy. Use this situation as your chance to get a new skill and look for someone to delegate the tasks that don’t require much creativity but take time. You may even type “write my essay for me” in a search line and see if there is something for you.
9. Visit University Counseling
There are colleges that have implemented free counseling services for their students, so they can talk to someone and seek help. It’s important to know that reaching out is not a bad thing, and it’s okay to talk about things that bother you. Moreover, the counseling may help you feel better and know what your next move is.
10.Find Organizations to Join
There could be plenty of groups about things you enjoy doing and joining one of them will make you feel welcome. It’s essential to do what you enjoy and treat yourself too, and one of these groups could do it.
College is easy to hate, but if you know how to live your new life, it will all go smoothly. These strategies hopefully showed you a ray of light.
